6. ...But Penelope Cruz Probably Isn't

Of the major characters featured in On Stranger Tides, Jack and Barbossa are confirmed to be returning and Blackbeard is dead. This leaves Angelica, Blackbeard's daughter and Jack's love interest played by Penelope Cruz. Jack marooned Angelica on a beach at the conclusion of the movie, but a post credits scene showed her holding a voodoo doll in the shape of Jack, implying she will get her revenge. However, Cruz has yet to sign on to Dead Men Tell No Tales, and since filming begins shortly, it is highly unlikely that the character will return. Although there are no outright problems with Cruz's portrayal of the character, it will likely improve the film if she is not present. Captain Jack Sparrow doesn't need a love interest to play off of. In fact his arc in On Stranger Tides would have been far more entertaining if he was not bogged down with an unnecessary romance story.
