3. Javier Bardem Might Be The Villain

Providing a great villain is something the Pirates series has always excelled at, bringing back first-film villain Barbossa for every instalment thus far and using the legend of Davy Jones with Bill Nighy's squid hybrid. Blackbeard was more underwhelming than these, but that could just be because he was only around for one movie, never getting to make a proper impact. Extremely talented actor Javier Bardem, best known as the villain in Skyfall and No Country For Old Men, is rumoured to have signed on for Dead Men Tell No Tales as a "ghost captain" named Brand. Brand apparently wants revenge for his brother's death, which he blames Jack for, a narrative that could explain the film's title. If these rumours are true, it's fair to say Javier Bardem would be an amazing addition to the Pirates films. The series has never failed at acquiring major talent, but Bardem is a notch higher - he won an Oscar for playing a villain and could pose the biggest threat yet to Captain Jack and crew.
