4. Kaya Scodelario Is The Female Lead

Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann, heroine of the first three Pirates movies, sat out On Stranger Tides and appears to be absent in the fifth film as well. The franchise's newest female characters, Penelope Cruz's Angelica and the mermaid Syrena, also are almost definitely not back. Instead, Dead Men Tell No Tales is bringing in franchise newcomer Kaya Scodelario to fill their shoes. Scodelario is known for her role as Effy in the show Skins and as Teresa in The Maze Runner, a role she is set to reprise in the sequel coming to theaters in September. Scodelario is supposedly playing the love interest of Brenton Thwaites' character (more on him later in the list). Previous rumours stated the female lead would be a witch, although at the moment it is unknown if this is who Scodelario is playing.
