10 Things You Need To Know About The DC Extended Universe

1. Zack Snyder Is DC's Kevin Feige

Can you honestly think of a studio president/producer as beloved as Kevin Feige? As the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's rightly hailed as being the one responsible for turning around the superhero movie genre and bringing Marvel's characters to life on the big screen in a way that keeps even the pickiest of fans happy. Warner Bros. doesn't have a Kevin Feige of their own, and while it was thought for a while that Geoff Johns would take on that role, it's actually Zack Snyder who is overseeing all of these movies (alongside producers Deborah Snyder and Charles Roven). It's Snyder who is steering the ship from a creative standpoint, and he apparently even has a white board in his office with a timeline revealing how each of the DC Extended Universe movies fit together chronologically. The studio apparently turned to the filmmaker for his help because they simply weren't sure how best to move ahead with their DC Comics properties. It's Snyder we likely have to thank for the upcoming slate of movies then, but don't expect him to have the same kind of iron grip over each of the Justice League's respective solo outings that Feige does. He's made it clear in interviews that he wants the writers and directors who join this world to have the creative freedom to create the movies they want to. That's a strategy with some undeniable risks, but Snyder is still keeping a close eye on them and ensuring that they stick not only to what he has up his sleeve for Batman VSuperman and Justice League, but his overarching plan for what's he's previously described as one big interconnected story.
