2. A New Batman Trilogy
The Dark Knight Trilogy was a massive success, and Warner Bros. are clearly keen to recapture that with their new Caped Crusader, Ben Affleck. We already know that Batman is going to show up at least four times over the next five years in Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad, and the two-part Justice League movie, but the plan for him is even bigger than initially expected. While it has yet to be made 100% official by the studio, the trades reported before Comic-Con that Affleck is working with comic book writer and The Flash TV series scribe Geoff Johns on a solo outing for Batman, paying off speculation that's been around ever since the actor/director signed onto the universe. However, it may go further than that. It has since been rumoured that the reason for a couple of Affleck's other projects being pushed back is because Warner Bros. are extending his deal to include an entire trilogy of movies revolving around the Caped Crusader. That's a big ask, but with an early screening of Batman V Superman for executives reportedly receiving a standing ovation, it seems as if "Batfleck" as he's been dubbed by fans might just end up being the Iron Man of the DC Extended Universe. Throw in a third and possibly fourth instalment of Justice League, and Affleck is on course to demolish Hugh Jackman's record for the amount of times an actor has played the same superhero while also becoming the first actor to play Batman for more than just two or three movies. What's next for Superman isn't clear at this point, but for Batman, the future is looking very bright indeed.
