10 Things You Need To Know About The DC Extended Universe
8. Dawn Of Justice = Wonder Woman
The casting of the Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was controversial, but only among fans who were hoping the Amazonian Warrior would have the body of a pornstar. Gadot auditioned with Ben Affleck against four other actresses, but the movie's producers have been quoted as saying she was the only one who truly blew them away. It's clear that the character is a big priority for the studio, especially as they're planning a trilogy of movies starring the hero (and if that works, then Warner Bros. will have beaten Marvel to launching a successful female superhero movie franchise). Still, the news that Wonder Woman would play a key role in Batman V Superman came as a definite surprise. Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash are only going to have very minor roles in the movie, but Gadot is going to have a lot of screentime; that "Dawn Of Justice" subtitle is as big a reference to her as "Batman V Superman" is to the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel. She's been cited as playing a key role in moving the story towards Justice League, with director Zack Snyder at one point describing her as a "gateway drug" to that team's formation in the DC Extended Universe.
