4. The Importance Of Man Of Steel In Batman V Superman

For the past two years, there have been countless think pieces and comments section arguments about the destruction caused by Superman and General Zod's Metropolis set battle in Man Of Steel. With thousands killed during their fight, there are those who have argued that Superman should have to answer for his actions. While it's a little hard to believe Snyder's claims that doing so was always the plan, that fight is definitely going to have major ramifications in Batman V Superman. Superman's dealings with the Senate seen in the trailer will lead to Lex Luthor getting involved (it's believed that Holly Hunter's Senator will be in the villain's pocket), while the whole reason that the Caped Crusader targets his fellow hero will stem from the destruction of a Wayne Financial building (the reason there's one of those in Metropolis is because Gotham City will be located right across the bay from Superman's home in the DC Extended Universe). Basically, Batman V Superman is very much a Man Of Steel sequel, albeit with a lot of Batman. Seeing as the Superman reboot was fairly divisive, it's surprising that it's ultimately going to be so important to at least these early stages of the DC Extended Universe. Then again, the fact that the controversial events of that movie aren't being ignored shows that Snyder is taking the interconnectivity of these movies seriously, and Batman V Superman will, with any luck, bring an end to the complaining about the ramifications of Superman and Zod's battle when it's addressed head on...
