10 Things You Need To Know Before Watching Joker
2. It's Already Proving To Be Controversial
There's always something for someone to say, no matter how good a product or movie might be, but Joker might have hit a nerve amongst a wide selection of its potential audience.
Tapping into the backstory of Joker, the film's attention to the demise and downfall of Arthur to the point where he eventually goes mad and takes his anger out on society, has hit a few raw nerves around the world.
Joker has been accused of essentially encouraging those who feel outcast from society to take things into their own hands, promoting violence and glorifying it in the process. The message being deployed from this state of mind and subsequent action has drawn criticism, thanks, in part, to some shocking real-life attacks we have seen in recent times where the culprit's mind-set can be notably compared to that of the Joker.
Those suggestions have been strongly rebuffed from Todd Phillips, but given the media attention, it's already created a massive talking point before the film is even released.
