10 Things You Never Knew About Ferris Bueller's Day Off

10. Michael J Fox Was Considered For Ferris' Role

It€™s hard to imagine anyone other than the lovable Matthew Broderick playing Ferris. However, he wasn€™t the first choice for the film. John Hughes, the writer and director, actually wanted Michael J. Fox to play the role, which is odd considering that the first choice for Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties was Matthew Broderick (a role that Fox ended up with for seven seasons). Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, and Robert Downey Jr. were also considered for the role of Ferris. Despite the fact that Broderick wasn€™t the first choice, Hughes claims that he had someone exactly like him in mind while writing the script.
