Shooting a film is an arduous task, and as such things can often go very wrong. That was certainly the case when it came to the first day of shooting on this ambitious project, as the inexperienced directors of Gilliam and Jones had some significant issues to deal with on their debut.

The first day of shooting saw them attempt to film the iconic Bridge of Death scene, and in an ironic connection to the setting, it was quite a disaster. The production's small budget meant that they could only afford one camera, and of course, it broke on the first day.

After some struggle and toil, they finally managed to get it working but had massive issues synchronising the sound. Although they eventually got it working again, until they did they were limited to only filming close up non-dialogue shots.

Thankfully things worked out, and the two did a fantastic job as directors, with Gilliam even going on to become critically acclaimed for his further directorial projects.
