10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About The Cloverfield Franchise

After the disappointing reception of Netflix's The Cloverfield Paradox, fans of the franchise have been desperate for another instalment ever since. 2018 saw the release of Overlord, which many predicted would be the next film after the trilogy. Abrams was quick to reveal however that this was not the case and the movie would be a stand alone piece.

At Cinema Con within the same year, Bad Robot and Abrams revealed that a sequel was coming for the much loved movies that would be "true and dedicated" to what fans remember. Possible hints suggest that the next movie will revisit the action of the first, looking at the attack from someone else's perspective.

Earlier this year however, it was revealed that the production company was moving to Warner Bros, meaning that the sequel may not happen after all, as the ties to past instalments and even the Cloverfield title brand does not lie with them anymore.

Fans still have hope for the future of the franchise, as the running theme of accidental scripts being used for the movies could always happen again.
