10 Third Movie Sequels Better Than Anyone Expected

The third Scream film brought the original trilogy to a close, satirizing the concept of horror film trilogies in similar fashion to how the first film satirized slasher movies and the second film satirized sequels.

With three films in four years, it's no surprise the series felt a bit rushed by the end, and the final entry in the original trilogy suffered from the absence of original screenwriter Kevin Williamson. The film did well, but then the series went dormant for over a decade.

Then, eleven years after Scream 3, the stars aligned. All the original cast signed on, and original creators Kevin Williamson and director Wes Craven got to make the fourth entry in the series, this time satirizing the idea of remakes as well as discussing new trends like found footage and torture porn.

The new film didn't spawn a trilogy, but it was a smart, fun horror film that effectively captured the snarky tone of the original while still delivering some classic scare scenes.
