Your thoughts drip with sarcasm as a once-reluctant Ana quickly resumes her relationship with billionaire Christian Grey, right after he buys her a MacBook and a brand-new iPhone.

Fifty Shades Darker is bad enough as it is without factoring in the poor messages it sends out to young women, and this is one of them.

You stare in disbelief as their relationship goes from zero to sixty in literally five minutes, after Ana unwraps her pricey 'relationship blackmail' and Christian stalks her like a creepy serial killer.

You imagine what exactly the millions of impressionable young women watching this will take away from it. Fifty Shades Darker is that rare example of a movie that would probably be better if it were a banal, predictable rom-com - at least then the foundation of the central relationship would be based on positive emotions.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
