10 Thrilling Predictions For Blade In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
8. Blade Will Make New Allies
Most superhero films cast a variety of characters to flesh out the hero’s world and to provide comic book fans with the opportunity to see their favorite characters in live action. In the original trilogy, only Blade, Deacon Frost, Dracula, and Hannibal King had comic book origins. However, the MCU reboot will allow for more characters from the comics to make their big screen debut.
The MCU has not shied in recent years from using obscure characters. Now beloved characters such as the Guardians of the Galaxy were not household names before their MCU debuts. Therefore, the MCU should embrace the opportunity to give Marvel’s supernatural characters the live-action treatment and to allow Blade to team with new heroes unfamiliar to casual audiences. Sorcerer Jericho Drumm/Brother Voodoo and the lycanthropes Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night and John Jonah Jameson III/Man-Wolf are all worthwhile partners for Blade.
Blade has also teamed with other vampire hunters in the comics. If the MCU chooses a British setting, Quincy Harker’s London-based band of slayers should be introduced. Quincy Harker (son of Jonathan and Mina Harker from Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Rachel Van Helsing (great-granddaughter of the legendary Abraham Van Helsing) and Frank Drake (Dracula’s last living descendant) are experienced hunters and their ties to the traditional Dracula mythos make them relatable to both casual viewers and comics enthusiasts.
