10 Thrilling Predictions For Blade In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Blade Will Partner With A Strong Female Lead

Karen Jenson, the female lead in the original 1998 Blade film, is a strong option for a female lead. She is a haematologist, which is a great asset for a vampire hunter to have, as she can develop new and creative ways to kill vampires. However, each Blade film and even the 2006 television series has had a different female lead (Karen Jenson, Nyssa Damaskinos, Abigail Whistler, and Krista Starr). So, the MCU may follow suit and introduce a brand-new character.

If a Blade film decides to explore Blade’s British connections, his MI:13 teammate Lady Jacqueline Falsworth Crichton also known as Spitfire is a strong choice for his solo debut’s leading lady. Spitfire also has vampiric powers from her villainous uncle Baron Blood and has served as love interest for Blade in the comics. However, the MCU has faced criticism in the past due to its depictions of love interests, therefore the new Blade film may go the route of Captain Marvel and eschew including a love interest. However, even if no love interest is cast, it the film should not proceed without a female lead role.

Monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone is also ripe for adaptation. As the bearer of the bloodstone (an amulet that grants various powers such as strength, speed and endurance), Elsa can assist Blade in his crusade to protect the world from vampires. She also avoids the damsel in distress trope as she is immune to vampire bites and her blood kills vampires.
