10 Time Travel Movies To See Before You Die
4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
What can we expect from Jim Cameron if not big-scale science fiction genius? Titanic, for one, but we're not here to discuss Leo's French girls. No, T2 was Cameron in his heyday, when he was able to pick up the trail of low-budget grungy grindhouse flicks and pump out mega-hit, genre-defining sequels.
Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator returns from the future, repurposed as a good guy, to help Sarah Connor and her future-leader-of-the-rebellion son John fight off a new breed of bad guy: the amorphous, liquid metal T-1000. The goal is simple: save John Connor and stop the rise of the sentient, man-hunting AI Skynet.
The plot is one big setup for action pieces, swinging shotguns and cheesy buddy cop lines galore - a deadpan Arnie delivering such titanium-plated gold as, "Chill out, dickwad." is not to be missed.
But this is in no way to the film's detriment, as it flexes its technological muscles in perhaps every possible way and comes out swinging.
Though the focus is not on time travel or its mechanics, this nevertheless provides the backbone to all of the onscreen action and a plot that owns the market on baited breath, as pieces of the future are pieced together in the past and tracked down for termination.
