Since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been renowned for its secrecy. Few actors in the franchise receive a full script, meaning they have little understanding of the finished project. While making Avengers: Infinity War, some of the performers didn't know if they had been killed off or not.

The higher-ups at Marvel Studios are so tight-lipped, some actors don't know what film they're making... after they filmed it! While Gwyneth Paltrow guest-starred on The Chef Show, Jon Favreau chatted about their time working on Spider-Man: Homecoming two years prior. The Oscar-winning actress tells Favreau he's mistaken, insisting she "was in Avengers". After being corrected seven or eight times, Paltrow finally concedes.

It may sound nuts, but you can understand where Paltrow is coming from if you watch her scene from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Since Tom Holland isn't in this sequence and Peter Parker isn't mentioned by name, there's no reason for Paltrow to think she was filming a Spider-Man movie. Because the filmmakers at Marvel usually don't tell the actors the context of the scene or what movie it's for, you can't really blame her for not knowing any better.
