The Films: Deer Hunter, Kramer vs. Kramer, Manhattan, and The French Lieutenant's Woman

Walk up to any random person on the street and ask them who the greatest actress in cinema is... odds are, most folks will utter the name Meryl Streep. It's no wonder she is so renowned for her acting abilities; Streep has been widely recognized for her acting with numerous achievements.

Over the years, she has racked up the AFI Life Achievement Award, the National Medal of Arts, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, multiple Academy Awards, an Emmy Award, and the nation of France made her a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2003.

To be clear: this lady is an amazing actress and her talents have been on display in some of cinema's best films. Her career has spanned decades, but her longest streak of four films began with only her second film role in 1978's Deer Hunter.

That performance was followed with Kramer vs. Kramer, Manhattan, and The French Lieutenant's Woman. The movie that put an end to her streak was Still of the Night, which isn't her best movie, to be sure, but it rates high on many critic's lists in the Suspense/Drama genre.
