10 Times Batman Acted Like A Horror Movie Villain

5. Batman Visits Luthor - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

There's no question about it: Batman has never been more scary or off-the-rails as he is in BvS. Even after the demise of Superman, which theoretically showed him the error of his brutal, branding ways, he remains an unhinged figure of vengeance personified.

After his battle with Doomsday, Batman drops in on a now-imprisoned Luthor, in full fledged horror movie mode. There's a blackout in Luthor's cell block and when the flickering lights come back on Batman is standing beneath them with his face in shadows, in a jump-scare-level surprise right out of the Insidious franchise.

Batman goes on to threaten Luthor with a branding and promises to have his friends in Arkham Asylum make Luthor's stay as unpleasant as possible. Crazily enough, this scene is actually not as dark as originally intended.

BvS screenwriter Chris Terrio recently explained that in David S. Goyer's original script, the film ended with Batman not only threatening Luthor with a branding but going through with it. Terrio opted to alter the scene to show Batman had learned from his experiences throughout the film. Still, even in its diluted form, this scene is a disturbing glimpse at just how vicious Batman could be.
