10 Times Doctor Who Actors Took On Another Cult Franchise
10. Jenna Coleman In Captain America
OK, so this is a 'blink and you'll miss it' sort of thing, but it still counts... right? Before Jenna Coleman was introduced to the nation as Oswin Oswald in Doctor Who (and in true timey-wimey fashion, three months before her expected debut in the 2012 Christmas Special), she left her mark on the Marvel universe when she landed a bit part in the 2011 blockbuSster Captain America: The First Avenger. The actress briefly appeared as Connie (the girlfriend of Bucky, Captain America's boyhood chum) but unfortunately she's on and off the screen again before you can say "Raxacoricofallapatorius". A real shame but that's just how the cookie crumbles. There's been plenty of her to go round since, though. Her casting as the Doctor's coveted companion was preceded by a string of roles in other TV dramas, most notably the ITV mini-series Titanic in which she played stewardess Annie Desmond. If Jenna not getting the screen presence she deserves is something that particularly riles you, she has more than made up for it in Doctor Who. In fact, she even took over the whole bleedin' show at the end of the last series when her eyes replaced Peter Capaldi's in the opening credits. Lucky thing.
