10 Times Doctor Who Actors Took On Another Cult Franchise
9. Noel Clarke In Star Trek
If you hadn't guessed already from the picture above, Noel Clarke's role in Star Trek Into Darkness had all the makings of an emotional rollercoaster. The actor (whose journey in Doctor Who as Rose's on, off, on then off again boyfriend Mickey Smith was one of the most underrated character arcs of the revived series) played Thomas Harewood in the 2013 sequel and Noel seemingly wasn't phased by the threat of being disowned by the Doctor Who community for crossing over "to the other side". Not that anyone in their right mind would turn down the opportunity to work with J.J. Abrams, of course. Noel was even lucky enough to share the screen with Benedict Cumberbatch which means he would've breathed the same air as him, too. OMG. Benedict played the film's antagonist Khan, genetically engineered superhuman, who promised to save Thomas' daughter from her imminent death if he agreed to set off a bomb underneath the Kelvin Memorial Archive, thus instigating a top-level meeting of Starfleet personnel who Khan proceeded to wipe out with a single attack. Classic Khan. Back to Noel, though (sorry, that's what you get for being a Cumberbitch...), and you should really check this out if you weren't blown away by his performance as the resident TARDIS tin dog. Doctor Who didn't really do him justice in general, really, so go check out his films Kidulthood and Adulthood while you're at it. He didn't win the BAFTA Rising Star Award for nothing, you know.
