10 Times DVD Extras Lost Their Mind

6. Watch The Film (In An Alien Language) - Galaxy Quest

All Good Things
DreamWorks

As a homage to all good sci-fi films and tropes, Galaxy Quest manages to place an absolutely magnificent extra feature in its DVD.

In fitting with a film that shows a bunch of imaginary alien races - complete with their own languages - Galaxy Quest comes with a function that allows you to listen to the whole film dubbed in the alien dialect of Thermian.

Obviously, you won't be able to make out a single word of it, which makes it the kind of thing only put on by possible very lonely people, or otherwise people enjoying a small dose of the devil's many herbs and spices. Either way, you're watching an hour and forty minutes of a film, that - unless you've memorised it - will be basically indecipherable.

Given the creators knew this, you have to give them mad respect for recording the whole film's dialogue again in a language they knew nobody would be able to uncover. There's a level of whimsy at place here that is undeniably impressive - even if it is also entirely confusing.
