10 Times DVD Extras Lost Their Mind
2. Samara Comes For You - The Ring
Given the sheer terror The Ring inspires in so many of us, the DVD extra in America versions of the film was almost excruciatingly cruel.
Should you leave the film on its menu screen, it will decide to mess with you in the best possible way, playing the Ring footage while not allowing you to pause or exit it. You know, the footage you just watched ruin lives in nightmarish ways - and that now appears to be about to ruin your life, as your paranoid mind now suspects.
If you aren't messed up enough by that alone, it then has one final ace up its sleeve - and oh boy, it's a real doozy.
After playing you this footage in a way that suggests you're about to die in seven days, the DVD then plays the sound of a phonecall, that's intended to sound as though it's coming from behind you. Said phonecall is, of course, suppose to give you a heads up of your imminent demise - and because you've almost definitely just watched the film, you are very, very aware of that.
It's a genius extra feature, if also an entirely sadistic one.
