1. Jack - Francis Ford Coppola
Buena Vista PicturesThe fact that Jack exists is, quite frankly, insane. The fact that it was directed by the man who also helmed the likes of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now - two of the greatest motion pictures in the history of cinematic endeavour - is even insaner. So although Francis Ford Coppola has made a number of questionable pictures over the course of his long and inevitably spotty career, it is Jack that stands out as the most curious of all the blemishers inherent to his filmography, because it's seriously bewildering to think that he actually made it. Likelihood is that Jack was a result of a mental breakdown on Coppola's part; years after the production of Apocalypse Now sent him to the edges of sanity, his brain decided that this was something he should jump upon - an insensitive and mawkish film about Robin Williams playing a small boy trapped in a man's (very hairy) body. The picture plays out like Big (wit Tom Hanks), but with none of its winking self-awareness, nor any of the gags. Quite simply, it's a terrible, embarrassing picture, made even more so because Mr. The Godfather directed it.
