10 Times “Good” Characters Gave Being Evil A Try

6. Hal Jordan

Jason Todd Red Hood
DC Comics

Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern of Earth until he turned to evil. For his entire career, Jordan was a good guy. He flew for the U.S. Air Force and found a Green Lantern Ring while trying to save an alien. With the ring, he became the Green Lantern, a member of the Green Lantern Corps who fought to protect the universe from evil, so after decades of comics, DC decided to make him about as evil as possible.

After his hometown is wiped off the face of the planet, a despondent Jordan recreated it and everyone within using his ring. The Guardians of the Universe didn’t approve of this sort of morbid reminiscing and ordered him to stop. Let’s just say, he didn’t take it well.

He flew off into space and crossed the line into evil when he killed a Green Lantern… then another and another until he possessed more rings than anyone. He arrived on OA and slaughtered all but one of the Guardians and destroyed the Central Battery renaming himself Parallax, which is the entity corrupting his actions (he didn't know that at the time).

From that point forward, he was a bad guy, but DC eventually brought him back a few years later and returned him to the Corps.
