10 Times Hollywood Failed To Adapt World Cinema
9. I Think I Love My Wife
This 2007 film had a good premise, written by comic genius Chris Rock, and based on the last movie in Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales – Love in the Afternoon.
The idea of Chris Rock taking on a French New Wave film and giving it his own twist should raise the eyebrows of any cinephile. And the story of a married city-man and his temptation to cheat is good basis for a rom-com.
But the film the film barely manages to emulate the style and themes of the original, instead going for laughs – and failing.
If you're not much of an "arthouse" fan, and think this lighthearted version might be a good substitute, we recommend avoiding the whole thing.
