10 Times Hollywood Failed To Adapt World Cinema

Another remake of a French film, here. The original was a 2005 film called Anthony Zimmer, which had an intriguing plot. It's just a shame that said plot was lost in translation, however, when Florian Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck brought the idea to Hollywood in 2010.

Even with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in the lead roles, it’s difficult to sit through this muddled production of zero substance. Plus, Jolie and Depp had zero chemistry, which can't be said for the brilliant Sophie Marceau and Yvan Attal in the original.

Something good did come of this production, though; Ricky Gervais tore into it at the 2011 Golden Globes, which is well worth looking up on YouTube.
