10 Times Marvel Movies Negatively Influenced The Comics

9. The Chitauri Lost Their Distinct Appeal And Menace

A lot of MCU fans unfamiliar with the Chitauri's comic book appearances (especially in the Ultimate universe) would be forgiven for thinking the alien species is your standard generic horde created for the sole purpose of giving the Avengers something to hit really hard or blow up.

However, this is far from the case as the extraterrestrial species is far more devious and interesting on the panel. In the Ultimates series, their powerset is less "futuristic hive-mind super-soldier" and more "Skrull with an over-the-top healing factor".

In addition to their morphing abilities, the oppressive beings were hellbent on subjugating free will throughout the galaxy. They achieved this by travelling from planet and employing the indigenous species' military tactics against them.

It is a shame that their debut in the mainstream continuity rendered them similar to their mindless film incarnations. This robbed them of any menace and left their encounters with the heroes bereft of any tension and ideological challenge.
