10 Times Movies Unexpectedly Spawned An Animated Series
4. Beetlejuice
Considering the circumstances under which Tim Burton's Beetlejuice ended, with the aforementioned bio-exorcist forcing Lydia Deetz to marry him before being banished back to the afterlife, it's rather unusual that its animated follow-up paired them as best buddies.
But hey, they did, it worked, and we got over 90 episodes of Beetlejuice awesomeness as a result.
The show ran for four seasons between 1989 and 1991, across two different networks, and wound up with its own Gameboy game (which is rather difficult). It even tied with Winnie the Pooh for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.
Sadly, none of the original movie cast returned to voice the returning characters, but Tim Burton did develop it and stayed on board as executive producer, and original composer Danny Elfman returned to do the theme.
Of all the cartoons on this list, Beetlejuice is easily one of the best, and thanks to some zany and dastardly humour, still holds up to this day.
