1. Harry Loses His Arm
The real climax of the film, Harry wakes up to find himself in hospital having had his infected arm amputated. The real life portrayal of the most extreme of drug users, Harry's miserable situation pays tribute to the film as a whole, wrapping up two long hours of desperate addictive trouble. It's not a scene you'll forget in a hurry, nor will his crying be easy to block out when the realisation really hits him. It's scary because: it hits home that actually, heroin addicts do suffer fates as bad as this, and it's a lesson learnt from Requiem that drug addicts only have a sad end coming to them. I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
