10 Times Star Wars Gave Fans What Wanted (and They Hated It)

7. Reveal Snoke's Identity

When Disney announced the new Star Wars trilogy, fans immediately started speculating on the main villain, Supreme Leader Snoke. We may have learned nothing about the disfigured tyrant in The Force Awakens but we assumed all would be revealed in a later instalment.

But when he was suddenly killed off in The Last Jedi, it looked like we were never going to get to the bottom of Snoke's identity.

Boy, do we wish it remained that way. In The Rise of Skywalker, the resurrected Emperor informs Kylo Ren that he "created Snoke" while the camera lingers on a canister filled with failed clones of the First Order's leader.

And that was it. Snoke's entire backstory was condensed into one shot that lasted five seconds. Not only was this anticlimactic, it wasn't even original. Millions of viewers deduced Snoke was a copy of Palpatine long before it was canon.

Also, revealing Snoke as a clone was worse than not knowing who he was at all, since it meant he was never a character to begin with. He has no tragic backstory. No character development. Snoke was a plot device, nothing more.
