10 Times Star Wars Totally Trolled You
6. From A Certain Point Of View

George Lucas didn't know that Darth Vader was going to be Luke Skywalker's dad until after A New Hope was released.
That's pretty well known and, thankfully, the team were able to weave this element into the story pretty seamlessly. Well, with one notable exception.
When Obi-Wan Kenobi first meets Luke Skywalker, he tells him that his father Anakin was murdered by Darth Vader. How exactly does a person murder themselves, Obi?
The Star Wars crew knew they had to get out of this mess and tried to do so in the most lacklustre way possible.
After learning about his true parentage, Luke confronts Obi-Wan's ghost about his previous statement. Kenobi says that Anakin was destroyed the moment he became Vader, so what he told Luke was correct "from a certain point of view."
Damn, Ben, that's a bit of a stretch.
It sort of works with Kenobi's old man mystic character, but it's also painfully obvious in hindsight that this was Lucas and co. desperately trying to dig themselves out of a hole of their own making.
If you don't feel personally trolled by this, then rest assured that Luke definitely did.
