10 Times The MCU Broke Its Own Rules

5. Vibranium's Inconsistent Properties

Of the many quasi-scientific inconsistencies in the MCU, is there anything more confusing than the ever-shifting properties of vibranium, the precious metal that Cap's shield is made from?

Across the MCU its composition has varied greatly, as The Avengers showed Cap's shield to be capable of withstanding a direct hit from Mjolnir, while in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it couldn't even deflect a fairly weak kick from Batroc (Georges St-Pierre), and in various other MCU movies Cap is sent flying by decidedly less powerful impacts to his shield than that of Mjolnir.

This is largely a result of having different filmmakers working on these projects, even if it is rather in line with the ambiguous, fluid approach to physics present in most Marvel comics.

Basically, this is just one of those things fans need to accept, even if it shouldn't be that difficult for Kevin Feige to lay down some basic physical guidelines about what vibranium can and cannot endure.
