10 Times The MCU Completely Transformed Actors' Careers
5. Karen Gillan - From Selfie To Success
While her career has yet to hit the heights of the previous entrants in this list, there's no doubt Karen Gillan's role as Nebula has opened doors for her in Hollywood.
After finding success in the UK as Amy Pond in Dr. Who, the actress' initial attempt at cracking America did not go so well. Despite being given the lead role in a sitcom (the 'Selfie' mentioned in the entry title), Karen Gillan found herself taken off the air in abrupt fashion as ABC pulled the show halfway through its first season.
Fortunately, Gillan landed the role as the cerulean-skinned antagonist Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy and has since proven her worth as an ensemble cast member in Hollywood. She may not have been given the lead in a blockbuster yet, but her stint as Nebula paved the way to her becoming one of the main cast members of the new Jumanji movies (which have totalled over $1.5 billion at the box office).
Although she's yet to hit the heights of a true A-lister, there's no doubt that Karen Gillan's career took a big upturn following her appearance in the MCU. Which is more than can be said for the next person on the list...
