10 Times The MCU Completely Transformed Actors' Careers

3. Tom Holland - From "Who's That?" To "It's Him!"

Tom Holland will forever be synonymous with Spider-Man. Which, as anyone aged 1-100 will tell you, is a pretty cool thing to be remembered for.

Holland's meteoric rise is all the more impressive as it seemingly came out of nowhere - only 19 years of age when given the role of Peter Parker, Tom Holland was arguably the least recognisable actor in this list before his MCU career began. He did have some movie credits to his name - like The Impossible - but he was known more for playing Billy Elliot on stage and Gregory Cromwell in TV series Wolf Hall.

Now, at the age of 23 he's already a global icon and looks set to continue his career as a leading man in the upcoming Uncharted movie.

Not that he's done with being Spider-Man yet. After Sony and Disney had their argument over the rights to the Spider-Man films, it was Tom Holland's diplomacy that saved the day. (He drunk called Disney CEO Bob Iger begging him to work something out with Sony). OK, it was hardly Kennedy negotiating the Cuban Missile Crisis but it worked, with Spider-Man 3 already being green-lit.

Given the incredible effect playing the MCU's Peter Parker has had on Tom Holland's career one can hardly blame him for wanting to keep the role as long as possible. Life outside the Disney bubble isn't easy, as the next entrant on out list can attest to...
