10 Times The MCU Gave Fans EXACTLY What They Wanted

4. Cap Catches Mjolnir - Avengers: Endgame

If you saw Avengers: Endgame at a packed screening, you'll likely never forget the rapturous audience response when Cap caught Mjolnir during the Avengers' final clash with Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Just as it seems like Thor's goose is cooked, Mjolnir starts rising out of the ground, seemingly as commanded by him, and smashes Thanos in the head.

However, Mjolnir then flies backwards and into the hands of Cap, finally confirming what everyone - especially Thor - suspected: Cap is goddamn worthy.

Cap then winds up Mjolnir and sets about putting a hurting on the Mad Titan, knocking him to the ground and using the combined might of his shield and Mjolnir's lightning bolts to take Thanos temporarily out of commission.

This isn't just a great, isolated fan service moment, though: it's a years-in-the-making payoff to the party scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Cap managed to just barely move Mjolnir, hinting at his future worthiness.

And that build-up is precisely why this scene made even the most cynical audience member pump their fist in the air and categorically lose their s**t.
