10 Tired Film Franchises That Desperately Need A Break

1. DC Films

When DC was starting out, Marvel already had several films under their belt, including a highly successful Avengers ensemble. Thus, DC desperately wanted to build to their own Justice league, if not only for the waterfalls of money that comes with such high-profile superhero flicks.

Cut to Batman V. Superman in 2016, and things were more than a bit off. The film was ripped apart by critics and fans alike for its terrible characters, and its sloppy, ham-fisted attempt at world-building. Things only got worse with the release of Suicide Squad, which is such a mess it can hardly be called a film.

Then 2017 rolled around, and Justice League - that big event film that started the DCEU in the first place - flopped. And it flopped hard, making the least money of any of the DC films released. It's a strange, Frankenstein-monster of a film, forged partially of Zack Snyder's vision and partially of Joss Whedon's reshoots. The end result was something without any real sense of direction, but with cringe-inducing jokes and CGI upper-lips galore.

In trying to have some sort of conflict with Marvel, DC has ruined their chances of success, and made what should have been a billion dollar smash, into their biggest mistake.

You're drunk DC, go home. Take a decade off, and then try again.
