3. Roland Joffe
Known For: Earning two Best Director Oscar nominations in 1985 and 1987 respectively for The Killing Fields and The Mission.
The Last 10 Years: Joffe may essentially define the notion of peaking too early, because not a single movie he's released since The Mission has received positive reviews. He's only released three films in the last decade, trashy horror flick Captivity, a ridiculous straight-to-video drama starring Mischa Barton called You and I, and critically-mauled war drama There Be Dragons. It's as though, after the two Oscar nominations, Joffe just gave up trying, and that's no more apparent than in the last decade, where he's not even making many movies anymore.
What We'd Love To See: A collaboration with his son, Rowan (Brighton Rock, Before I Go To Sleep), whose youthful exuberance just might be enough to get his dad's creative juices flowing once again.
