8. The Wet Bandits - Home Alone 1 & 2
Harry Lyme and Marv Merchants, two of the most clueless thieves in human history, though also two of the funniest, are played for riotous laughs in Chris Columbus' unforgettable Home Alone films by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. As the pair plot to break into all the empty homes on Kevin McCallister's (Macaulay Culkin) street, they find themselves facing unexpected resistance from the plucky eight-year-old, who of course booby-traps the entire house, such that every point of entry results in an act of grievous bodily harm inflicted against the pair. The dim-witted duo are constantly upstaged by Kevin's inventiveness, causing them to become angrier at both him and one another, until the point they're eventually thwarted. Rinse and repeat for the also hilarious Home Alone 2, and that's a pretty dumb pair of bad guys; wrecked by a kid not just once, but twice.
