10 Totally Unnecessary Movie Sequels That Everybody Wants Anyway
8. Inceptions
The world that Christopher Nolan introduced movie-goers to in his blockbuster smash Inception was incredibly dense, interesting and thus ripe with huge potential; given the nature of the dream-like universe that the writer/director conjured up, then, there's plenty of room for more chapters in the land of Inception. As with Alien and Aliens, could it be time for Inceptions? A sequel wouldn't have to pick up where the last movie left of, of course - and wouldn't need to feature Leonardo DiCaprio's Cobb in a central role. Given that the technology is available to anyone who knows how to use it in the movie, there's no telling how crazy and complex a sequel could go - especially since audiences are familiar with the concept and rules. Wouldn't it be great if a sequel poised one of the secondary characters from the original movie in a main role? Eames, perhaps, as played by Tom Hardy? Admit it: that sounds good. Although there's certainly no real good reason for an Inception 2 to find its way into theatres at any point in the near future, you can be sure as hell that it'd generate a lot of interest anyway - people would flock to see it, regardless of how skeptical they were. Likelihood? Not great. Christopher Nolan is unlikely to revisit this world anytime soon in favour of doing something completely different. Sigh.
