As great as the opening two acts of The Ring are, the absolute greatest moment comes at the very end. The film uses the trope of making you think the evil has been vanquished only for it to still be out there, but it's one of the most effective in that category ever put to film. Towards the end, Rachel has pieced everything together and has put the curse to rest, and the sequence with her at the bottom of the well very much seems like the finale. We know the true nature of the "seven days" thing, Samara is at peace, and it's clearly the end of the movie. Rachel returns home, but then in an incredibly eerie moment, Aiden simply says, "...you weren't supposed to help her. Don't you understand, Rachel? She never sleeps." Collective hearts sink everywhere as we realize Rachel didn't fix anything, and the curse of Samara can never be stopped. The only way to survive is to pass it on to someone else. It's a simple reveal, but it works so well because the movie does an incredibly good job of tricking you into thinking it's all over, only to throw a curve ball and bring things back to complete hell.
