4. Gamora

The only female member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora is the last of her race - the Zehoberi. She is also the other adopted daughter to Thanos and a highly-trained and skilled warrior and assassin. Growing up, she wandered the galaxy, serving Thanos and putting an end to anyone who stood in her or her adopted father's way. Her skills earned her the favouritism of the Mad Titan, which drove a wedge between her and her adoptive sister Nebula. Having seen the error of Thanos' ways, Gamora started to detach herself from him and attempted to obtain the coveted Orb, which she would give to either Ronan or the Collector - knowing that the result would be the destruction of the galaxy (and, subsequently, her own death) which would atone for her crimes under Thanos' leadership. She easily bested Earth outlaw Peter Quill one-on-one, she took out numerous Kyln prison guards in the Guardians of the Galaxy's escape from said prison and she ever so slightly bested Namora in their personal battle. Alongside Quill, Rocket and Drax she was able to contain the energies of the immensely powerful Orb in order to collectively defeat Ronan.
