3. Cap Dies (But Is Reunited With Peggy)

Ever since Civil War was announced, fans have assumed that Captain America has been living on borrowed time. If that comics arc is famous for one thing it's the stunning end that see Cap killed off after he hands himself in to end the War. We didn't get to see that in the MCU, but it doesn't mean the plan isn't to give Steve Rogers a similarly noble death.

Cap's entire MCU arc has been defined by a couple of things: him "doing this all day" and standing up to bullies and the heart-wrenching removal from his own life and the promise of happiness he had with Peggy Carter before he sacrificed himself. He is both selfless and haunted by the selfless act that defines his heroism.

So what if the natural progression of that arc is for us to see Cap sacrifice himself in a final battle with Thanos as his tragic end, but then for us to see him reunited in the afterlife (or another reality where he's "trapped" as he was in the aftermath of Civil War) with Peggy for that dance he owes her. At least then it'd be bittersweet.
