10 Truly Awful Superhero Movie & TV Love Interests

9. Lois Lane - Superman Returns

Casting on all fronts was the cardinal sin of this movie. Brandon Routh has spent literally decades trying to capitalize on the fact that he looks like a superhero, but it really just seems like time to admit that he just doesn't have the charisma to pull it off.

Looking like Christopher Reeve does not mean that you can just step into his shoes all willy nilly. (See also: Cavill, Henry.) But that's just the tip of the iceberg. Because who in their right mind thought that Kate Bosworth was the right choice to play Lois Lane, out of all the actresses on the planet?

First of all, she might have worked if they were telling a Superman story that takes place when the characters were a bit younger, maybe like the college years or something like that. But this Lois Lane is supposed to be like the jaded, cynical version of the character whose older and wiser and has a five year old son.

Kate Bosworth was 22 when she made this movie, and while some actors that age look older than their years, she was not one of them. It just wasn't believable, and the complete lack of chemistry between her and Routh certainly did not help matters.
