10 Truly Disturbing Behind-The-Scenes Movie Facts

3. Multiple Actors Drowned During The Filming Of Noah's Ark

1928's Noah's Ark was one of few films that was released during the transition from silent movies to talkies.

It is a combination of both and features some scenes with dialogue, whereas the rest merely contain synchronised music and sound effects. It was an ambitious, epic disaster film and director Michael Curtiz wanted to reflect that by incorporating innovative special effects to make the movie look as real as possible.

The set, while shooting the climactic scene, it was actually flooded with 600,000 US gallons of water, which ended up drowning three background actors and caused serious injury to many others. Those affected included female lead Dolores Costello who suffered a severe case of pneumonia, and 35 ambulances were called to the scene to attend the wounded.
