The third installment of the moderately successful creature feature series of horror movies Jeepers Creepers, was released in 2017.

The movie was critically panned and also sparked significant controversy as well as boycotts of the movie due to its use of child molestation as a plotline.

Writer-director Victor Salva was derided for his screenplay, especially the inclusion of the line "Can you blame him though? I mean look at her, the heart wants what it wants, am I right?", in reference to a character that is the victim of sexual abuse.

This piece of dialogue, which apparently attempts to justify sexual abuse, is made even more disturbing given the fact that Salva, the writer and director of all three Jeepers Creepers films, was convicted of sexually abusing a 12-year old actor who worked on his feature film debut, alongside possessing child pornography in 1988.

The line from Jeepers Creepers 3 was ultimately removed from the theatrical cut, but it was included in the cut that was screened to critics.
