Alita Battle Angel was one of Hollywood's more profitable anime adaptations and while it was a mixed bag in terms of its storytelling, it was successful in creating a likeable hero in Alita and translated the anime's unique world-building elements fairly well to the big screen.

The action did not disappoint as well, with its large number of cyborgs allowing for the film to indulge in mad-cap yet awe-inspiring set pieces.

The film's action reached its heights in its Motorball sequence. The futuristic game plays like a demented combination of rollerblading, Formula 1, and baseball and this lends the action a frenzied pace mostly seen in car chases.

The sequence showcases Alita's skill and combat prowess, and it is brutal without veering into squick territory due to the cybernetic nature of the combatants.

Their technological advancements (specifically their souped-up rollerblades) and the track also gives the scene a highly kinetic feel that serves to ramp up its intensity.
