10 Underrated Disney/Pixar Songs
5. Yodel-Adle-Eedle-Idle-Oo - Home on the Range
Home on the Range is genuinely excellent.
A western-spoof starring three cows as they fight to stop a wicked cattle rustler, Home on the Range boasts some serious vocal talent. Sadly, that vocal talent includes Roseanne Barr, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Randy Quaid, all of whom have, let's just say, "sketch" records.
Speaking of Randy Quaid (in a much nicer context) and it is he who voices Alameda Slim, the movie's cattle-stealing villain.
Slim is introduced to us through song and, in true Disney fashion, the villain song is one of, if not the, best in the entire film.
At this point in the movie, we don't know how Slim has been rustling so many cattle so successfully. Well, as it turns out, he doesn't use guns, irons, or whips. Instead, he uses... yodelling.
In a brilliant twist, Slim bursts into a yodelling song to hypnotise his bovine bounty into following him away from the ranch.
Introducing this facet of Slim's character through song was an inspired choice, as it not only moves the plot along, but does so in a truly memorable way.
