10 Underrated Marvel Movies That Deserve Another Chance

8. The Wolverine

If Rotten Tomatoes is anything to go on, the general critical consensus for The Wolverine is fairly decent. However, the diehard fans were much less forgiving, with the biggest of their complaints being its treatment of the Silver Samurai and the film's final act as a whole.

However, it's one of those films you really need to look at in perspective.

While The Wolverine, admittedly, falls a bit flat in its last twenty minutes, the vast majority of the film was completely solid. It's certainly no Logan, but if you overlook the aforementioned twenty minutes of questionable choices, you're still left a good two hours of exceptional, Wolverine-centric fun. So much so that it seems like even the critics have undersold it a bit.

The fight scenes are great, some of the special effects are incredible, the humour works well, the Japanese setting is a nice change of pace, and Hugh Jackman turns in yet another great performance as the titular character. Plus, an incredible amount of heart went into portraying Logan's struggle with the ghosts of his past and the pain that goes along with being nigh-immortal.

It may not be the best in the X-Men series, but it's also far from the worst and an essential chapter of Wolverine's on-screen story.
