10 Underrated Marvel Movies That Deserve Another Chance

3. X-Men: Apocalypse

The fact that X-Men: Apocalypse has a worse rating on Rotten Tomatoes than X-Men: The Last Stand is a travesty if ever there was one.

While it could be a bit too grandiose for its own good at times, it was wildly entertaining and is easily one of the most fun movies to watch in the entire X-Men franchise. And its '80s vibe greatly lends itself to this.

Plus, the film also has plenty of meat on its bones, such as a fantastic ensemble cast.

James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were as brilliant as ever as Professor X and Magneto, respectively, and the other returning cast members were great as well, especially Even Peters' Quicksilver, who was given a bigger role this time around as well as an absolutely breathtaking slow-motion sequence.

The newcomers to the series were great as well and did a fantastic job capturing some of the X-Men's most iconic members in their formative years, with Sophie Turner's Jean Grey being far better than she's been given credit for.

Most importantly, Apocalypse had a genuinely engaging story going for it, touching on such topics as loss, empathy, revenge, and redemption, with most of the characters growing to some degree by the time the credits roll, in spite of the emphasis on spectacle.
